Unemployment highest since Great Depression.

An important political issue from the same party from an earlier time.

Why did anyone waste their time with these people?

The statistics been cited regarding unemployment are bogus.  Don’t expect the air-heads on the news to figure this out anytime soon.  The more accurate estimates are reviewed in this excellent New York Times article and Calculated Risk blog.

For all the pain caused by the Great Recession, the job market still was not in as bad shape as it had been during the depths of the early 1980s recession — until now.

With the release of the jobs report on Friday, the broadest measure of unemployment and underemployment tracked by the Labor Department has reached its highest level in decades. If statistics went back so far, the measure would almost certainly be at its highest level since the Great Depression.

In all, more than one out of every six workers — 17.5 percent — were unemployed or underemployed in October. The previous recorded high was 17.1 percent, in December 1982.

Here is the Calculated Risk blog.

How did this happen?  Here is an over-the-top, but information rich look at the stupidity of the Clinton administration as guided by the wack-pack economics of the neocons. You go Dylan Ratigan!

Here is a news piece on this sad anniversary, when one of the wisest laws written from lessons learned by the Great Depression was wiped away by stupidity and greed.  Our present Great Depression was the direct result.

This is one of the few senators to vote against this repeal.  His speech outlined almost exactly the financial collapse we experienced.  Here is the video, unbelievable how accurate he was. It is a pity that Clinton and the neocon herd failed our country.

Here is the New York Times article.

Obviously this is important stuff.  Unfortunately this sort of massive stupidity, from our Republican from Georgia, is taking place;

What were the women trying to do?  Co-sponsor a bill.

Here is another clip, showing one person storming off camera during a discussion between two people.  One political party is represented by a veteran, the other by a guy who got a military deferment for “being treated for Depression”, and avoiding  the, then active, war in Vietnam.    Here is the clip.

NOW recently aired a nice piece about the economy.  Harvard Professor Dr. Elizabeth Warren explains what is happening very well.  This is worth carefully listening to.  Remember, we are here because safe guards and protections were systematically and stupidly removed. Here is the piece.

It seems clear that true leadership is needed.  I’m tired of corporate funded losers wasting valuable time.

A thoughtful discussion of fundamentalism. I’ve known some people who were raised in fundamentalist households and left it all behind when they realized simple truths, like the ancient nature of the solar system, the earth, or the truth of evolution and the direction relation of all forms of life, as shown by genetics and evolutionary biology.

The simple solution here is to clearly separate religion and science.  It’s so simple, let’s see what science says about the physical world and private beliefs about that things spiritual.
